BTS Skytrain: Passengers Still Need to Wear Masks

Passengers of the Bangkok Mass Transit System, more commonly known as the BTS Skytrain, are still required to wear face masks while inside the train and on the platform despite the government announcement of lifting its face mask mandate.

“Passengers are reminded that although the wearing of masks has been relaxed for outdoor public areas, BTS SkyTrain still requires masks to be worn at all times while using the system. Any future changes to this requirement will be announced accordingly,” the BTS Skytrain said in a Facebook post.

Bangkok Mass Transit System Public Company Limited (BTSC), which operates the Skytrain, made the announcement on social media to ensure the safety of their passengers from the threats of COVID-19.

A train is an enclosed space that can get crowded, so the post is still aligned with the government’s announcement that masks are recommended for crowded places where social distancing may not be possible.

Thai commuters expressed their gratitude in the comments section as the train can indeed be “…crowded, especially in the morning and evening.”
