Public Health Ministry Eases Mask-Wearing Restrictions in Thailand

Starting mid-June, Thailand residents are not mandated to wear face masks except for people with certain medical conditions, pregnant women, and the elderly, according to Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Public Health Dr. Kiattiphum Wongrajit on May 24.

However, the public is still required to wear face masks when in crowded areas and poorly ventilated places.

Due to the Public Health Ministry's proposal to declare COVID-19 as an endemic illness on July 1, they also provided advisory on how to live safely with the coronavirus.

As of May 24, Thailand recorded 4,144 new COVID-19 cases and 36 new deaths.
