MOL Kicks Off International Conference to Promote Work Safety and Health

The Ministry of Labour (MOL) has commenced the opening ceremony and keynote speech at the OSH Avenue International Conference 2022 (OAIC) on June 11, as per a news release by the MOL on June 15.

Assistant Minister from the Prime Minister's Office Suthi Sokosol was assigned by Labour Minister Suchart Chomklin to lead the ceremony. The OAIC aims to promote occupational safety by inviting famous speakers to share their knowledge on safety and health at work.

Sukosol said that the country has direct experience with safety at work due to the lessons learned from the health crisis, wherein the MOL took action to mitigate COVID-19's effects and help workers in their recovery.

"Efforts aim to create continual awareness by creating a body of knowledge and spreading awareness on processes for safety practices and culture, following the government’s 20-year national strategy. The Ministry of Labour also has important policies for promoting competitiveness and developing labour skills to be quality workers,” the press release read. “It has supported the policy of the country’s opening and the new economy by upgrading the development of various skills to create a workforce that can continuously adapt to work or new jobs.”

The three-part conference was hosted with the theme "Foresight for Safety at Work," said Waranon Pitiwa, director of the Thailand Institute of Occupational Safety and Health. The first part focused on the safety of working life for society, followed by a forum on knowledge and sharing of experience on work safety, and then a forum to exchange opinions on work safety.
