‘Hello Hab-Re’ at Sam Yan Mitrtown Provides Free Space for Hawker Stalls

Bangkok Governor Chatchart Sittipunt spearheaded the opening ceremony of the "Hello Hab-Re (Hello Hawker)" at Samyan Mitrtown in collaboration with the Pathumwan District Office.

The "Hello Hab-Re (Hello Hawker)" project aims to assist hawkers in Bangkok by organising their stalls to avoid obstructions along sidewalks, as well as increasing the public’s access to goods and services, according to a press release from the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration Data Center on Feb. 1.

“It is also a part of stimulating the overall community by supporting free trading areas for small community traders in the Pathumwan area,” the release read. Hawkers are allowed to sell their products at the courtyard beside Samyan Mitrtown (on the side of Soi Chula 42) on weekdays from 8 AM-2 PM and 3 PM- 8 PM.

During the ceremony, Sittipunt extended his gratitude to Samyan Mitrtown for their assistance and sharing their free space for hawker vendors. He further encouraged private businesses to follow suit if they have a vacant area or commercial space.

In order to be eligible to participate in the "Hello Hab-Re (Hello Hawker)," hawkers are required to pass the food safety screening in accordance with the management measures by the Pathumwan District Office.
