Massive Neutering Campaign to Roll Out in Thailand in Two Years

About one million stray dogs and cats in Thailand will be subject to neutering and vaccination over the next two years.

This neutering initiative, which was first led in 2003 by non-profit organisation Soi Dog Foundation, has successfully vaccinated and neutered 750,000 stray dogs and cats in Thailand alone. The CNVR (Catch, Neuter, Vaccinate, Return) programme continues to reach out across different provinces including Kanchanburi, Chiang Mai, Songkhla, and Bangkok.

Through surgery and vaccinations, the CNVR seeks to sustainably end “the suffering of homeless animals” as well as to improve their health and eliminate rabies or prevent the spread of diseases in the community.

In a Facebook video posted on Aug. 9, Soi Dog’s CNVR Director Tuntikorn Rungpattana said the Bangkok governor is interested in their proposal about the mass sterilisation programme as the solution to animal stray population.

“If Soi Dog is leading the way and the government follows, we can achieve a better world for stray animals a lot sooner,” Rungpattana said.

Individuals who wish to donate may choose between recurring monthly donations or one-time donations. In every amount, you can help neuter and immunise up to 10 dogs. Visit support.soidog.org to learn more about the campaign.
