The number of passengers at Nakhon Ratchasima railway station increased by 30%, Station Master Ampon Rattaniya said in a report on June 23.
There was a significant rise in the number of train commuters when the risk of COVID-19 decreased and more students started going back to school. Because of the high cost of gasoline, public transit providers deployed a limited number of buses, making it difficult for many commuters to travel by bus.
This pushed commuters to travel by train, which is faster and more affordable than other forms of transportation.
Additional train trips have begun operations as COVID-19 restrictions eased off to fulfill the heavy demand during morning and evening rush hours.
