TAT Releases Recovery Target, Expects Cabin Factor Increase by 70%

In line with Thailand’s full reopening on June 1, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) released its recovery target considering factors on hotel occupancy rate, passenger load, and travel credits and debits.

According to TAT Governor Yuthasak Supasorn, the tourism ministry plans to increase job opportunities by up to 50% following the decline in nationwide occupancy rates to 29% and 14% in 2020 and 2021, respectively. The target for average spending would likely reach THB 62,580 per trip, while the cabin factor or passenger load is projected to achieve 70% seat capacity.

Furthermore, officials from the hospitality industry voiced concerns about the labor shortage during peak season. They also recommend the removal of Thailand Pass for international tourists given that airlines may check passengers’ vaccine certificates and insurance.
