This Movie-Themed Café in Bangkok Will Take You to the Cinemas in No Time

Instagram-worthy cafés are continuously popping up in Bangkok, with each of them offering unique brews to tickle the palate of coffee connoisseurs. FICS, a cinema-inspired café and community space, is one of the coffee shops that is capturing the hearts and tummies of Thai locals and tourists.

Located on the busy road of Sukhumvit, the Thai-born store boasts flicks-themed exteriors reminiscent of movie theatres. Posters of some of the world’s most iconic films are displayed inside the café, doubling as a backdrop for photo ops.

There’s an image of “Amélie,” a 2001 film about a young heroine living in Paris; a small signage of “American Psycho,” a Christian Bale-starrer; a tiny picture of “La La Land,” a 2016 romantic musical drama; a poster of “2001: A Space Odyssey,” a 1968 sci-fi movie about astronauts; and a whole lot more.

A trendy café like FICS is not without its hospitable baristas who will gladly walk you through the shop’s extensive menu of Thai food and beverages. To stay on brand, the store offers movie-inspired, experimental beverages such as Clockwork Orange (THB140), Lost in Translation (THB160), Call Me by Your Name (THB135), and Blue Is the Warmest Colour (THB125).

If you’re not a fan of over-the-top coffee, the shop also has a wide range of classic beverages such as Espresso (THB90), Latte (THB110), Flat White (THB110), Mocha (THB120), and Caramel Macchiato (THB120).
