9. ‘VOCs’ Exhibition
Volatile Organic Compounds, abbreviated as VOCs, are gaseous substances emitted from certain organic compounds that evaporate at room temperature. This group of chemicals was the inspiration for Thai artist Supmanee Chaisansuk’s ongoing exhibition at Iconsiam.
The exhibit delves into the theme of suffocation and the contamination of moving air with radioactive substances. Inside the exhibit area, visitors can find tiny, dust-like particles meticulously painted on the walls, doors, and windows.
Supmanee is renowned for her artistry with watercolours and acrylics on canvas, and her VOCs exhibition aims to raise awareness about air pollution. Whether you reside in a secure building or not, dust and pollutants may infiltrate the materials and products we encounter, impacting our health in ways we might not even recognize.
