The Hong Kong government will be opening applications for the Fitness Centre Subsidy under the sixth round of the Anti-epidemic Fund (AEF) tomorrow, Feb. 22. The deadline for applications is March 21.
The scheme provides a one-off subsidy to fitness centres to help ease their cash flow pressure and the financial burden that arose from their closure last January due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
According to a government press release on Feb. 20, HK$100,000 of subsidy will be given to fitness centres that are 500 square metres big or below and H$200,000 for those over 500 square metres.
Applicants who have already received subsidies under the third or fourth rounds of the AEF and submitted applications for the fifth round only need to submit their application forms for the sixth round without any supporting documents. Fitness centres over 500 square meters, however, must submit a copy of their premises' proof of area along with their application form.
