The Transport Department said yesterday (March 21) it plans to provide eligible Hong Kong cross-boundary goods vehicle drivers cross cheques of HK$10,000 in “a one-off non-accountable subsidy” beginning April.
The provision of a one-off subsidy to more than 11,000 cross-boundary drivers under the Anti-epidemic Fund is to assist them during the difficult pandemic under the fifth wave of COVID-19.
The subsidy is to be disbursed to each eligible driver in the form of an automatic crossed cheque, according to the Transport Department records.
The cheques would be mailed to the addresses of drivers stored by the department as reported by the drivers when applied for licences.
