Three Temporary Vaccination Centres to Open in City-Wide Demand

The government announced that it will set up three pop-up community vaccination centres (CVCs) at Tuen Mun Town Hall, Wo Hing Playground in Fanling, and Sha Tin Town Hall next week. Online reservations can be made from 9 AM today.

The centres in Tuen Mun and Fanling will begin operations from Feb. 16, while the Sha Tin CVC will open from Feb. 18. All three centres will operate daily from 9 AM to 6 PM and last for six weeks.

Each centre can provide over 1,000 BioNTech jab doses to the public every day, where eligible people may receive their first, second or third vaccine dose. Same-day tickets will also be distributed at the three centres to those aged 60 or above.

Secretary for the Civil Service Patrick Nip said the government is increasing the vaccination capacity through different means, including setting up pop-up CVCs and door-to-door vaccinations, to increase city-wide vaccination coverage.

“The situation has posed an unprecedented threat to Hong Kong. Under the epidemic, we strive to reach a vaccination rate of 90% as soon as possible,” Nip said.

“Every person has a role to play under the epidemic. Those who have not yet received their first dose of a COVID-19 vaccine, especially elderly people, must take prompt action and then receive their second and third doses on time. Those who have already received their vaccinations on time should encourage and make arrangements for elderly members in their families to get vaccinated.”
