Transport Minister Urges Public Not to Panic Buy Amid Citywide Lockdown

There is no need to panic buy as Hong Kong has adequate fresh food supply from the mainland, according to Hong Kong's Transportation Secretary Frank Chan. Chan reassured the public that the supply of frozen meat was 1.8 times the normal amount and more food supplies are expected to arrive in the region via land, sea, and rail.

This announcement was made after the department noticed the depletion of grocery store shelves in recent days following fears of a citywide lockdown.

Meanwhile, officials are currently ironing out the details of an upcoming mass testing exercise and understand that people still need to obtain their daily necessities and essentials.
