Chief Executive John Lee to Jet Off to Bangkok to Attend APEC Meetings

Chief Executive John Lee will depart for Thailand’s capital tomorrow morning (Nov. 17) to attend the 29th running of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Economic Leaders' Meeting and other diplomatic meetings in Bangkok. This year’s APEC has the theme "Open. Connect. Balance."

Lee will also be joined with a delegation of 20 high-level representatives from commerce, finance, industry, trade, and technology to host discussions on opening trade, restoring connectivity in a post-COVID-19 world, and promoting sustainability.

Lee will attend the APEC Economic Leaders' Meeting on Nov. 18 and 19, as well as the Gala Dinner hosted for participating leaders on Nov. 17. He will also take to theAPEC Leaders' Informal Dialogue with Guests on Nov. 18 and the APEC Leaders' Dialogue with the APEC Business Advisory Council.

Lee will lead Hong Kong business delegation to Bangkok, “with a view to strengthening Hong Kong's connections as well as economic and trade exchanges with Thailand,” according to a government press statement yesterday.

“Mr. Lee and the delegation will tell the good stories of Hong Kong and promote the city's free market, the convenience of doing business and the opportunities brought to the world under the "one country, two systems" principle.”
