Enrolment for Gov't ’10,000 Steps a Day’ Campaign Opens Oct. 5

The Department of Health announced the opening to the “10,000 Steps a Day” campaign to encourage Hong Kongers to increase physical activity and combat the risk of non-communicable diseases, such as cancer, strokes, diabetes, and heart disease.

Organised with the Occupational Safety and Health Council, enrolment for the challenge begins Oct. 5 for individual participants or workplace organisations for the November-long event, as per a government news portal yesterday.

Participants must use a mobile app to record their accumulated steps during the challenge period and synchronise their data with the event’s official online platform.

The department will grant awards to top performing participants and organisations who achieve more than 8,000 steps per day on average.

Enrolment will be made on a first-come, first-served basis from Oct. 5 to 31. Interested individuals and organisations can enrol through the event’s official website, to be announced here.
