Gov't Consumption Vouchers Set for Handout Aug. 7

The government is set to distribute the first instalment of the consumption vouchers under phase two of the scheme to about 6.36 million eligible people on Aug. 7, according to a government news portal yesterday.

About 6.21 million people, who previously received vouchers under phase one in April this year and met the eligibility criteria under phase two will receive vouchers worth HK$5,000 by instalments. They will receive a HK$2,000 voucher on Aug. 7.

Around150,000 new eligible people who registered for the scheme, both permanent residents or new arrivals, will receive vouchers worth HK$10,000 by instalments, with HK$3,000 to be first distributed also on Aug. 7.

According to the press release, the government has issued SMS messages to eligible registrants regarding the consumptions vouchers via designated phone number 6059 1120.
