School Nominations Direct Admission Scheme for Exceptional Students to Launch in AY 2022-2023

The Education Bureau (EDB) will be launching the School Nominations Direct Admission Scheme (SNDAS) in the 2022-2023 academic year to enhance flexibility in university admissions and provide an alternative pathway for students with exceptional abilities and talents.

The SNDAS will be open for application by Secondary Six students who will be taking up the 2022 Hong Kong Diploma of Secondary Education (HKDSE) Examination and starting their undergraduate studies by September 2022, according to a government press release on Sept. 23, 2021.

The nomination period of the SNDAS will run from Oct. 6-Dec. 8. Students who wish to apply for programmes through the SNDAS must be nominated by their secondary schools, with each local school allowed to nominate up to two students with extraordinary talents and interests in certain disciplines.

Every student nominee can apply for admission to one of the 140 designated University Grants Committee-funded undergraduate programmes participating in the SNDAS.

"It is introduced with the aim of recognising the exceptional talent of students in specific disciplines that may not be fully assessed by the HKDSE Examination," a spokesman for the EDB said. "It will provide opportunities for these students to be considered for direct admission to local universities."
