Tai Ping Shan Ranks 7th Coolest Street in the World: Time Out Hong Kong

Hong Kong’s hip and historical Tai Ping Shan street placed seventh on Time Out World’s Coolest Streets ranking, with more than 20,000 city lovers answering questions about specific streets around the globe.

With insights from the local editorial team on the ground, the Time Out Index survey found that readers chose Tai Ping Shan street as the coolest in Hong Kong. It is famed for being one of the first Chinese settlements in the 1800s, transforming today into an uber-hip micro-neighbourhood attracting a wealth of day visitors.

The neighbourhood has seen a transformation amid the pandemic, with new apparel shops, cafés , quaint galleries, fusion restaurants, and a host of independent food, beverage, and service businesses calling Tai Ping Shan home.

Rue Wellington in Montreal took first place in the rankings, followed by Gertrude Street in Melbourne. Taipei’s Yongkang Street in the Dongmen area placed fourth, whilst Bangkok’s Chinatown strip, Yaowarat Road, ranked eighth.
