West Kowloon Cultural District Returns With 2022 Freespace Jazz Fest

West Kowloon Cultural District presents an extended weekend of jazz music and special art events fit for the whole family. Held between Oct. 26 and 30, the festival is a five-day experience of live performances from local talents, orchestras, and rising young musicians, alongside an array of creative events and activities.

Sectioned off into the new Art Park and Wonderland area, the event lets visitors enjoy both outdoor performances as well as original shows within the specially designed space.

The Wonderland lineup includes Eugene Pao, Joyce Cheung, Daniel Chu, and the Patrick Lui Jazz Orchestra, whilst the programme at the Harbourside Lawn West stage is offered free of admission charge. More intimate productions can be found at Lau Bak Livehouse, featuring bands that play everything from upbeat Latin-style jazz and fusion soul to world pop and more.

Headlining at The Box auditorium is a double-bill from pianists Ted Lo and Bowen Li, in addition to a special show from percussionist Anna Fan. The space is equipped with a one-of-a-kind immersive sound art technology to enhance the entire experience.

Opportunities to engage with international artists are also presented at The Room, where an Experimental Lab provides a virtual platform to connect with avant-garde tunes in Seoul, Montreal, Berlin, and Zurich.

Also on showcase are complimentary film screenings, the Great Lawn market that features the work of independent arts and crafts makers from all over Hong Kong for sale, as well as bespoke workshops from guest booths. For the full event schedule and ticket purchase click here.
