Delicious and Guilt-Free: Where to Get Vegan Cakes in Hong Kong

Delicious and Guilt Free Where to Get Vegan Cakes in Hong Kong

While traditional cakes are made with eggs and dairy, which aren’t vegan, there are many ways to substitute these ingredients and make desserts a healthier treat. For example, instead of cow’s milk, you can use plant-based milk like almond, soy, or oat milk. Instead of eggs, you can use flaxseeds, applesauce, or mashed bananas. These might seem unusual, but they do the trick! If you’re worried about the taste, many bakeries can prove to you that healthier alternatives are just as mouthwatering.

Here are some Hong Kong bakeries where you can get delicious yet guilt-free vegan cakes.

The Cakery

The Cakery strives to help customers live a healthier and fitter life while enjoying their favourites without the guilt. They improve the overall nutritional profile of their desserts by using the healthiest ingredients, replacing refined sugar with natural sugars, and increasing the amount of good fats and proteins. What’s more, this Hong Kong bakery believes in conscious living and mindful eating that they have launched a Conscious Living Campaign in 2018.

Get their signature four-inch Naked Cake (HK$510), Chocolate Raspberry Cake (HK$348), or Pastel Dream Cake (HK$680) which come in different flavours, such as Cocoa Loco, Apple Crumble, and Day Dreamer. Egg-free, gluten-free, organic, and keto options are also available.

Locations: Multiple locations. Visit their website to find a store near you.

Baking Maniac

The Baking Maniac is a mother (Renuka) and son (Ankrish) tandem who are self-taught and loves to experiment. Ankrish started baking at a young age. He blogged about his creations and got himself his first client at age 12. By the time he reached 16, he’s all over the media and is continuing to build a corporate portfolio with many well-known companies in Hong Kong.

Choose from their signature Naked Cakes that come in Chocolate Ganache, Chocolate Raspberry, Cookies N Cream, Carrot, Chocolate Orange, and Chocolate Buttercream flavours for HK$680 (six inches) or HK$1,300 (eight inches).

Apart from cakes, you can get gluten-free and eggless sweets from their bakery, such as chocolate chip cookies, hazelnut lotus bites, honey almond slices, madeleines, and chocolate brownies.

Sweet Secrets

Sweet Secrets was founded in 1999 by Sarah Lee, a Hong Kong Woman Leaders awardee in 2018, out of her passion and personal desire to “eat clean.” This bakery aims to help people make healthier food choices to nourish the mind, body, and spirit. Although they’ve decided to close their Central shop to focus on their online platform, their mission stays the same — to bring people together regardless of dietary conditions.

Choose from their variety of vegan cakes and tarts, such as their six-inch Good Heavens Cake for HK$888 or their Beetroot Chocolate, Heaven’s Chocolate, Strawberry Cream, Turmeric Ginger Lime, and Vanilla Chocolate Cake for HK$690.
