It’s been a whirlwind of a year to say the least, though the one thing we can always count on to get us through in this food paradise of a city, is the dazzling abundance in food options to go around. From the constant stream of great restaurant openings to creative new interpretations that bring about completely unexpected dining experiences.

If you prefer to dine closer to the action in anticipation for midnight, celebrate on Peel Street with UMA NOTA’s signature New Year’s Eve tasting menu featuring the warmth and tingle of Brazilian protein and vegetable dishes.

The dinner set menu begins with savoury Brazilian chicken croquettes, paired with Truffle for snappy Truffle Coxinhas, with Wagyu Beef is served atop of caramelised onion, truffle, Karachi mustard, and Brioche as the A5 Wagyu Brioche; alongside four other starting bites. Mains are delivered with three rich, meaty plates, including Carne De Fumeiro, confit pork shoulder topped with edamame vinaigrette and cassava farofa, as well as Grilled Lobster with den miso and green papaya pickles. End the night and begin the countdown with Flambéed Pear Tatin.

The menu, designed by Chef Peter Find, features Häppchen Kleiner Gänse Leber Gugelhupf (mini foie gras cakes), Gebackener Limburger Käse, (roasted Limburg cheese), Duck Breast with Celeriac Puree, Forest and Morel Mushrooms with cheese foam and black truffles, and more hometown favourites from Find’s nation.

Club Rangoon, Hong Kong’s leading Burmese eatery, is set to welcome in the new year and a host of warm guests with a New Year’s Eve set menu showcasing the finest of recipes and dishes, native to the Southeast Asian nation.

Diners will begin with tea leaf salad, Laphet Thoke, a Club Rangoon signature. Next is the must-try national dish of Mohinga, and addictive Village-Style Egg Curry Bites, for starters. A hearty main available to savour is the A Mel Thar Dan Bauk, a Burmese-style biryani made hearty with Australian Wagyu beef cheek, basmati rice, saffron, dried shrimp, and tomato relish.

The Ngar Kin Chin Sat (add on HK$200) – an aromatic whole-roasted sea bass with ginger, lemongrass, tomato served with chili oil and homemade pickles – is also available to sample. Consumed during the Burmese New Year in April, the Mont Lone Yay Baw is Club Rangoon's New Year’s Eve dessert, featuring boiled sticky rice flour balls stuffed with sweet jaggery paired with coconut ice cream.

New Mediterranean-inspired diner in Central’s FOCO building is hosting a flavourful Festive Dinner for Two, to reel in the New Year and end celebrations of Christmas with a bang.

The surf-and-turf-inspired spread at Basin begins with a serving of fresh oysters and creamy ajo blanco sauce, followed by Ballard’s tableside truffle steak tartare with truffle. Starters include clams in a caviar beurre blanc sauce with chives and cayenne oil, truffle zucchini flower served with acacia honey and walnuts, and a carpaccio of richly pigmented and remarkably sweet Dénia red prawns, described as a crowning jewel of the Mediterranean sea.

For mains, pick between Josper-grilled rib-eye steak with mojo sauce and chimichurri, Josper-grilled Canary Island sea bass with a Mediterranean-style clam and green meri sauce, or smoked eggplant prepared with 24-month aged Parmesan, sunflower seeds and Spanish premium Olibaeza olive oil. Dinner ends on a sweet note, with rich peanut coulant with coconut sorbet and pavlova.

The New Year's Eve four-course dinner menu features dishes including Alaskan king crab served with avocado and fresh tangerines, creamy lobster bisque, pan-seared red snapper drizzled with butter sauce, served with grilled red endive and caviar, grilled Lamb saddle, served with Mediterranean artichoke puree and roasted trumpet mushroom, before ending the night on a classic finish with raspberry chocolate cake.
