Everything You Need to Know About Plastic Free July
Are you participating in the Plastic Free July challenge this month? Get involved in this global movement by adopting small changes in your daily life to collectively make the earth a better place.
First introduced by Rebecca Prince-Ruiz, the Founder of the Plastic Free Foundation, which is an Australian registered charity, in 2011, they strive to positively change small habits and work towards a world free of plastic waste.
Over the last five years, the Plastic Free July challenge has collectively prevented 10 billion kilograms of household waste and 1.4 billion kilograms of plastic.
The Foundation provides resources, tips, and ideas to help participants reduce single-use plastic waste and to encourage actions to preserve cleaner streets, oceans, and communities.
This global social movement has transformed participants' mindsets that small steps can lead to big changes. Get started by replacing your daily takeaway coffee with a reusable travel cup, incorporate reusable straws, and find a plastic-free alternative when buying fruit and veggies. When we integrate small habitual changes into our daily lives, we are creating a safer and better planet. Engaging in this challenge is a continuous and fulfilling journey that will motivate our community to contribute.
One of the main aims of Plastic Free July is to create measurable behavior changes by educating participants to share success stories from a range of communities, such as schools, workplaces, and councils.
