From Mega-Hits to Mega-Pixels: Luxury Camera Maker Leica Drops Limited-edition, Seal Collab'

In what might be Seal's most "Killer" partnership since the 1990 mega-hit with Adamski, the "Kiss from a Rose" singer-turned-photographer has revealed a limited-edition Leica camera collaboration. The debut of the camera coincides with Seal's photography exhibition hosted by the Leica Gallery Los Angeles from Sept. 21 to Sept. 31, 2022.

The camera is adorned with a woven black and gold covering, from Japanese brand Hosoo, inspired by "the interplay of light which occurs when sunlight falls through the tree canopy". In the box, you'll find a matching rope camera strap emblazoned with a lyric taken from "Kiss from a Rose". New York fashion label Rag & Bone enlisted Annina Roescheisen to design an accompanying scarf that also features Seal's lyrics interpreted into a gold-on-black design. The scarf is hand-finished in Italy.

Identical on the inside, the Leica Q2 "Dawn" shares the same 47.3 megapixel, a full-frame sensor coupled to a fixed Summilux 28mm f-/1.7 aspherical lens. The Q2 "Dawn" boasts a 14-stop dynamic range (at ISO 100) and 14-bit colour depth, enabling owners to get the most out of each shot. Video users are well-catered with 24 and 30-frame standard 4K, Leica's Cinema 4K mode and slow-motion capture of up to 120fps in 1080p.

The Q2 "Dawn" is limited to a 500-unit run and is available from Leica's flagship stores at Pak Sha Road, Causeway Bay, and IFC, Central for a recommended retail price of HK$53,800.
