4 Activities in Hong Kong for a Bitter Free Valentines Day

Thought of letting the day pass while cooped up at home? While we know how Valentine’s Day could make unattached people feel lonely, that does not mean you should hide under your blanket and sulk for the rest of the day. If you are going through a break-up, embracing a newfound freedom, or enjoying life minus the burdens of a relationship, there are tons of ways to enjoy the days leading up to the 14th without looking and feeling bitter! Here are four activities to keep yourself busy in the season of love!

    Online Speed Dating

We know love is in the air, but so is COVID-19. But who says dating should take the backseat in the middle of a pandemic? Video dating app Filteroff is holding an online event for Hong Kongers who are single and ready to mingle. The app uses an algorithm based on your age, location, height, education, and preferences to find your match. Instead of scanning and swiping, you are given 90 seconds to virtually meet a potential match and get to know them using technology “modeled after real-world speed dating.” Curious? Download the app here.

    Learn to Bake Cupcakes

You will never run out of sweetness this Valentine’s Day when you join this cupcake baking class. Participants will learn how to make gluten-free vegan cupcakes, including proper cream frosting and colouring. You can also take home your creations and give them to friends as a V Day gift or enjoy them on your own.

The two-hour class is scheduled on Feb. 12 in Yiuga Factory Building, Kennedy Town. It is priced at HK$480.

Paint & Wine: Valentine's Day Edition

We can only think of a great outcome when art and wine combine. This February, toast to a life of creativity and surprises when you join the Valentine’s Day edition of Paint & Wine hosted by The Hive Central. This is an alternative to traditional painting lessons where instead of being holed up in a classroom, you are clutching a paintbrush in one hand and holding a glass in the other. But can you actually make good art while under the influence of alcohol? Find out when you attend this special session on Feb. 11 from 7 PM to 9 PM.

      Shop ‘Til You Drop

One of the perks of singlehood is being able to spend on a whim. And since you only have yourself to spoil, you can loosen your purse strings a little and finally buy those shoes or clothes you have always wanted. Check out these online shops that offer a special Valentine’s Day collection:
