Christie's Auctions Fine Wines from Cellar of Christen Sveaas on Mar. 24

Christie’s Hong Kong has unveiled an upcoming auction for Grands Cru expressions to be held in the city on Mar. 24.

Over 350 lots of the finest and rarest wines from the collection of Norwegian businessman, art collector, investor, and donator, Christen Sveaas will be auctioned live. The sale is estimated to exceed US$2.5 million (HK$20 million) in total value, offering a unique opportunity for wine connoisseurs to purchase prestigious and historic wines.

“As with wine itself, taste evolves over the years and gets more refined. Even so, I have always been true to and primarily focused on Bordeaux, and awaited patiently these wine’s late maturing. The Bordeaux grapes feel better on my palate than the Pinot Noir grapes, whereas of course white Burgundys are absolutely fabulous,” remarks Svaas.

The auction will feature a stunning selection of Bordeaux wines from the most prestigious producers, including Lafite Rothschild, Latour, Margaux, Mouton Rothschild, La Mission Haut Brion, Palmer, and Pétrus. Iconic vintages such as 1928, 1945, and 1961 will be represented, as well as items from as recent as the 2010s.

The catalogue is also set to include offerings of Château d'Yquem from 1858 to 1962, as well as other well-aged Sauternes from the 1920s to the 1950s.

Burgundy enthusiasts will not be disappointed either, as the auction features DRC Romanée-Conti from the 1950s to the 2010s alongside a large selection of outstanding white Burgundy from DRC Montrachet, Leflaive, and Coche Dury.
