July 2022 Events: Startup Opportunities in Hong Kong That’ll Fuel Your Entrepreneurial Spirit

As the events industry is getting ready to open again, hybrid activities are being organized in Hong Kong throughout July. This setup will help your events attract a larger crowd because they have options to attend in-person or virtually.

Whether you’re an investor, aspiring fintech entrepreneur, or just looking for new talents in the startup community, here are some startup opportunities that you should not miss!



HKSEC Academy Fintech in Social Innovation

Organized by the Center for Entrepreneurship of The Chinese University of Hong Kong and sponsored by Home Affairs Bureau, the Hong Kong Social Enterprise Challenge (HKSEC) Academy will be hosting an online event that provides special opportunities for startups in Hong Kong.

This is open to HKSEC alumni as well as young social innovators who are interested in expanding their knowledge base and gaining a deeper understanding of a variety of topics, including fintech, social innovation, and climate change, among others.

The webinar is a series of 12 sessions that started last May 10 and take place every other Tuesday. This month, the HKSEC Academy Fintech in Social Innovation will occur on July 5 from 5:30 PM to 6:15 PM.

Startup World Cup Asia Finale 2022

The CEOs of the most successful startups, venture capital firms, and major corporations will all attend the Startup World Cup, which will take place on July 6.

The global event will be joined by various countries and regions including North America, Europe, South America, Africa, and Australia. The winner will take home HK$30,000 cash prize.

Business GOVirtual Expo

Business GOVirtual Expo is a hybrid event that startups should not miss this July. It is a business-to-business (B2B) event featuring tech companies where enterprise users can exchange ideas and build further partnerships.

Participants may also attend exhibition booths and networking sessions. The physical event will take place at the Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre from July 13-15.

Meanwhile, regional exhibitors and visitors who wish to participate in the online expo and conference are welcome to do so. Some activities that you should not miss are virtual exhibition booths, online meetings, livestreamed conference sessions, and other online functions starting July 13-19. Making Small Business Finance Sexy: Cashflow, Funding & Finance Demystified

Are you having a hard time managing cash flow in your business? Make sure to join this webinar on July 22 from 12 PM to 1 PM. This startup opportunity is perfect for those running a small business as the panel will delve into financial metrics and more financing options.

‘Make IT Happen’ Business Exchange Day and Hackathon Awards Ceremony

Before the month ends, the JCI Peninsula will bring you a Hackathon contest on July 17 from 2 PM to 6 PM (online). The awarding ceremony will be held on July 31 at 2 PM to 4 PM (hybrid).

The training workshop features different programmes led by various experts in the IT industry. This includes Data Programming - Low-Code Quick MVP Prototyping presented by founder and chief instructor of Tecky Academy Alex Lau, Simple Data Analysis Tool by co-founder of Talentlabs Darren Chiu, Creating Business Opportunities from SDG by Human Resource Development Management Committee and Hong Kong Management Association member Teddy

Liu, Design Thinking Workshop - Big Brains and Infinite Possibilities by SENSE Training House founder Kenneth Yu, and User Interface and User Experience Design (UI/UX) by DxLab founder Marco Ho.

The Hackathon competition day will be joined by 10 teams who will present their proposals in Cantonese to the jury and venture capital firms. Each group consisting of two to four people will be given 10 minutes for the reporting session and five minutes for the question-and-answer portion.
