The Hong Kong Sevens tournament this year brings an exciting change as it marks the first Sevens tournament where both the Hong Kong men's and women's teams will appear side by side. Under the theme ‘Play On!’, the 2023 Hong Kong Rugby Sevens showcases itself as a must-see event in the city, and the game has returned to its full-fledged glory.

Adding to the adrenaline-fueled fun of the rugby matches, the schedule is also set to feature big musical performances on each day. Kicking off on Friday is a headlining opening ceremony performance from Cantopop mega-star Joyce Cheng, with a uniquely choreographed dance performance from PLK ONE23 Dance Troupe to follow.

Saturday sees homegrown ska favourite The Red Stripes, set to keep the party going, alongside resident Sevens DJs the Two Simons (Southgate and Willison) and Ben Cullen. North Stand can get ready to groove to Belgian artist Plastic Bertrand with his hit anthem ‘Ca Plane Pour Moi’ - all together now, ‘ooh ooh ooh ooh!’

International sensation DJ Soda will be coming in hot from South Korea to light up the South Stand on Sunday, with tunes and her signature “flute dance” moves.

What’s more, the games will also be kicking off with a ‘mini rugby match’ on the Friday of the competition, with a much-anticipated return of the ‘player’s parade’ to round off a spectacular weekend on its final day.

Like last November's Sevens, the Spring edition of the tournament will also cease to implement social distancing restrictions, on top of the scrapped mask mandate that now allows audiences to freely eat and drink in the stands.

Tickets are priced at HK$2,038.5 for a three-day pass with general admission via the Hong Kong Rugby Union site, or HK$790 for single day entry on Friday, and HK$1180 for Saturday and Sunday respectively through Klook. Click here to find out more on how you can secure your seats.
