MoE Plans Building Redevelopment of 830 Schools in Malaysia

830 Schools in Malaysia to Undergo Building Redevelopment – MoE

In response to YAB Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim’s concerns on underprivileged schools, the Ministry of Education (MoE) of Malaysia, as stated in a press release on Feb. 13, has identified 830 schools that need building redevelopment, as of Jan. 31.

The MoE assured its commitment to provide “safe education infrastructure” that is conducive to learning and is used by school personnel across the country. Based on its impact grade score analysis, the ministry will prioritise the redevelopment of school buildings under the Scales 6 and 7.

“The number of these [school] buildings is dynamic and in line with the [completion] of the implementation of redevelopment and acceptance of the building security levels recommended by technical agencies,” the release read.

The restoration of these school buildings will be implemented after the tabling of Budget 2023, which will take place on Feb. 24, Education Minister Fadhlina Sidek said via Malay Mail yesterday.
