Japanese Restaurant KINTSUGI Debuts in Kuala Lumpur

KINTSUGI Kuala Lumpur Debuts With Michelin-starred Chef Jeff Okada Ramsey

If you're a fan of Japanese cuisine, you'll be happy to know that Kuala Lumpur has a plethora of options, with several new eateries setting the scene this year. KINTSUGI Kuala Lumpur is the latest restaurant to join the list.

The restaurant by Clearwater Group opened on Jan. 31 with Tokyo Michelin-starred chef Jeff Okada Ramsey.

KINTSUGI Kuala Lumpur

KINSUGI is a cutting-edge Kaiseki and Sushi Kaiseki restaurant that embodies chef Ramsey's approach to kaiseki cuisine and is inspired by the centuries-old tradition of "golden joinery," the Japanese craft of fixing damaged pottery with gold lacquer.

Every item on the menu was chosen with care to represent the Kintsugi values and Kaiseki techniques and continues to push boundaries while maintaining a Japanese design and taste.

Most of the ingredients come from Western Japan, where chef Ramsey's family and his Japanese wife are from. These are then combined with the best of what is available locally. The restaurant, which is split into two parts, has a 12-seat Kaiseki Counter, an 18-seat dining hall, and three[CJ1] private rooms.

Sim Boon Yang, the founding partner of eco.id architects, designed a warm and inviting setting by weaving references to historical and famous events together with gingko leaves.

These leaves symbolise resilience and longevity; four trees in Hiroshima, where chef Ramsey's mother was born in the same year as the explosion, are still standing today.

KINTSUGI Kuala Lumpur, which is situated on the third floor of Isetan The Gardens Mall, is now open every day for lunch and dinner. For reservations, call +6010 381 1330 or visit. You can also follow them on Facebook and Instagram for updates.
