'Two Book Nerds Talking,' a Podcast Made Out of Love for the Written Word
Book lovers can find comfort and joy in this literary podcast by proud book nerds Honey Ahmad and Diana Yeong.
The two Malaysian women started "Two Book Nerds Talking" in 2018 out of sheer love for the written word. The podcast has long become a safe space for many voracious readers, offering Southeast Asian perspectives on all things reading and literature, from sharing insights on certain reads and genres to giving book recommendations and inviting bookworm guests on the podcast for insightful and fun discussions.
"Two Book Nerds Talking" is produced by Renegade Radio, a podcast network dedicated to spotlighting Malaysia's podcasters to the global audience.
In the latest episode for its sixth season, "Get in Your Feels with We All Want Impossible Things by Catherine Newman," the duo discusses their thoughts about the novel, which follows the story between two best friends and tackles themes like mortality, illness, and the loss of friendship. The book nerds of the podcast described the book as at once funny and sad, and recommended it be read with one's best friend, with some advice: "Make sure to have a good cry and hug after."
If you want to embark on a literary quest this year, take on "Two Book Nerds Talking's" 13-point book challenge, which encourages readers to read a book from their to-be-read list, make a dish inspired by a book, read a short story collection, a book set in an ancient city, a book about the future, a dark academia book, a murder mystery set in Asia, and other fun themes.
"Two Book Nerds Talking" also has an episode for the most anticipated reads until June of this year, and includes a wide range of genres for every bookworm out there. You can listen to that episode here.
Readers can likewise follow "Two Book Nerds Talking's" Instagram to check out the duo's latest reads, such as Lily King's "Five Tuesday in Winter," as well as their envy-worthy book haul unboxings.
