Tourism authorities in Macau have reported that the arrival number of Hong Kong visitors has rose back up to over 80% compared to the pre-pandemic situation. In addition, they have also announced that there will be more overseas promotional campaigns scheduled for launch in the third quarter of this year.
Last week, tourism authorities reported that the number of daily overseas visitors has increased to between 3,000 and 5,000, double the daily average number of overseas visitor arrivals recorded in the previous quarters.
Up until June this year, the total number of daily visitations stands at around 70,000 with overseas visitation continuously on the rise, according to Ricky Hoi Io Meng, the Deputy Director of the Macao Government Tourism Office (MGTO), who spoke to local media. However, the buy-one-get-one-free ferry and bus ticket promotion for Hong Kong and Taiwanese visitors will be discontinued, as the tourism authorities believe that "Macau's tourism products are attractive enough for them" as is.
To continuously boost tourism in Macau internationally, the buy-one-get-one-free offer for Air Macau tickets will continue. MGTO is also in communication with other airlines to explore more opportunities for providing promotional offers. The MGTO has also planned a series of promotional campaigns worldwide.
Earlier in June, Macau successfully held the “Macau Week in Shandong-Qingdao” roadshow, marking the first mainland city to host the Macau promotional campaign after the pandemic situation, more road shows and promotional projects will be held in Asian countries throughout the third quarter of 2023, including in Seoul, Singapore, and Malaysia.
