Calling all art enthusiasts and sugar junkies! Together with China's "fondant cake master" Zhou Yi, the MGM is hosting the “Fondant Art Exhibition.”
The exhibition will feature limited edition edible art, as well as well-designed themed commemorative cards and folders. Each work of art is imbued with traditional Chinese dough-sculpting methods, which are meant to represent “joy of the feast, the etiquette of filial piety, the happiness of marriage, and the traditional wedding rituals from Three Books and Six Rituals.”
The special sculpture art exhibition aims “to convey the sweet story of fondant to everyone.” Some of the beautiful fondant sculptures you can catch sight of are the stories of He Xiangu, Zheng Guanying, the Awakening Lion and Yum Cha Culture, Na Cheng, and Qin Ying Wedding Ceremony.
There will also be a mini theater guided tour titled “The Tale of Glorious Moments” that will take place every Saturday and Sunday until Jan. 29. The cross-disciplinary guided tour is designed to take the exhibition experience to an entirely new level. The MGM has invited local performers to bridge an extraordinary connection between theater art and fondant art. The event is available in Cantonese and Mandarin and lasts for about 10 minutes.
“As a grand starting point for MGM’s new journey in Macau, the exhibition features the taste of sweetness from the five tastes to bring forth the art of living. Thrilled to be collaborating with Zhou Yi, the ‘Sugar King’ of China, MGM and his team have spent a year to put together this cutting-edge exhibition..." MGM China Holdings Limited Co-chairman and Executive Director Pansy Ho said via press release on Jan. 5.
