CCP to Award Newly Proclaimed National Artists

The Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) will be giving a special tribute to the eight newly proclaimed National Artists today, June 29. This includes Agnes Locsin (dance), Antonio Mabesa (theater), Fides Cuyugan-Asensio (music), Gemino Abad (literature), the late Marilou Diaz-Abaya (film and broadcast arts), Nora Aunor (film), Ricardo “Ricky” Lee (film and broadcast arts), and the late Salvacion Lim-Higgins (fashion design).

The “Parangal sa mga Pambansang Alagad ng Sining 2022” ceremony will be held in the Tanghalang Nicanor Abelardo (CCP Main Theater) starting 5 PM broadcasted via livestream on both the CCP and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts' Facebook pages.

Visitors are welcome to the CCP Ramp starting at 3 PM to attend the event. Tickets will be distributed free of charge on a first-come, first-served basis for a limited number of seats.

At present, there are a total of 81 National Artists, including the eight newly recognized artists. These are individuals who have made significant contributions to the Philippine arts, specifically in the fields of music, dance, theater, visual arts, literature, film, broadcast arts, and architecture and allied arts. 

Those who will attend the event physically must adhere to the CCP new normal protocols under Alert Level 1.
