La Niña is Over, Neutral Weather Conditions Still Expected

Neutral Weather Conditions Expected Amid End of La Niña Season – Pagasa

La Niña has ended. The climate models predict that neutral weather (neither La Niña nor El Niño) will likely be experienced from this month until June, according to the ENSO Advisory from the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on March 10.

Despite the end of the rainy season, the weather bureau explained that there is still a “lag effect” that may cause above-normal rainfall conditions in the next few months.

In the advisory, the country will experience a gradual shift of wind systems as the northeast monsoon, also known as amihan, will ease off and the easterlies will become stronger this March.

Meanwhile, Manila Water Co. Inc. has begun to maximize operations on its water treatment plants to ensure that the water supply in eastern Metro Manila and Rizal will be sufficient in anticipation of the dry months, The Phillipine Star reported today.
