NGCP: Luzon Grid on Yellow and Red Alerts Due to Low Electricity Supply
Due to low power supply, the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) will place the Luzon Grid under Yellow and Red alerts on Monday, Nov. 28.
As per a Super Radyo DZBB report, the Luzon Grid will be on Yellow alert from 10 AM-5 PM. It will be placed on Red alert from 5 PM-6 PM, while the second Yellow alert status will be from 6 PM-9 PM.
A Yellow alert means there will be a low supply of electricity due to thinning reserves. A Red alert signals an insufficient power supply that may not be able to meet the demand of the grid.
According to the NGCP, the available capacity is 10,700 megawatts in contrast to the peak demand of 10,246 megawatts.
Meanwhile, six power plants are on forced outage while three are running at derated capacity.
