NTC Issues Step-by-step Guide to Report Text Scams

NTC Launches ‘Kontra Text Scam’ Page to Report Spam Messages

The National Telecommunication Commission (NTC) continued to reinforce its campaign against text scams by launching the ”Kontra Text Scam” page on Sept. 17, according to a report from the Manila Bulletin today.

The commission has issued a step-by-step guide on how to report these fraudulent senders in an effort to protect mobile users from becoming victims of scam messages. These messages include a clickable weblink that contains the user's name and promises of job offers, cash prizes, or discounts.

The NTC advised the public to report these “personalized” messages and block unknown numbers. Take a screenshot of the text scam that shows the mobile number and email it to [email protected], along with your complete name, address, valid ID, and contact number. Another way is to visit https://ntc.gov.ph and follow the instructions by filling out your complete details and clicking the “submit” button.

Meanwhile, the NTC ensured that personal information of complainants will be kept confidential in compliance with the Data Privacy Act.

For further queries, users may contact the NTC consumer hotline numbers +632 8920 4464, +632 8926 7722 and +632 8921 3251 during weekdays from 8 AM to 5 PM only.
