Lapillus Claims Place in K-Pop With Debut Single 'HIT YA!'

South Korean girl group Lapillus landed on the top trending list of Twitter Philippines on Monday, June 20, after they dropped their first single “HIT YA!”

Lapillus is made up of members Shana, Haeun, Seowon, Bessie, Yue, and Chanty. They are the latest act from MLD Entertainment, the same agency behind the launch of “Bboom Bboom” singer Momoland and boy band T1419.

Two of Lapillus’ members have been active in the entertainment industry prior to their debut. Shana, the group leader, previously appeared as a contestant on Mnet’s reality show “Girls Planet 999.” Chanty, on the other hand, was a former actress who has appeared in several shows and movies in the Philippines.

During their debut showcase, member Seowon said that Lapillus means “a gemstone that changes colors depending on the direction of the light.” She also said the catchphrase ”Shine Your Lapillus” conveys the message that everyone should follow their own unique dreams.

Produced by NHN Bugs Corporation, “HIT YA!” is a pop song characterized by its catchy guitar hook, unique synth sound, and powerful percussion. The members, who received professional training from veteran singer Lee Seung-chul, showed off their vocal abilities and rap skills throughout the track.

“HIT YA!” is available to stream on all music platforms including Spotify and Apple Music. The song’s drop also comes with an eye-catching music video, as produced by SUPER SOUND Bugs! Entertainment.
