Light Rail Transit Line 1 (LRT-1) and digital banking app Maya teamed up to launch a quick response (QR) ticketing system, Maya announced on its social media accounts yesterday.
With the goal of making commuting easier, the app’s scan-to-ride feature allows its users to purchase an LRT-1 QR ticket that can be scanned on the Maya fast lanes at any station. Passengers can also get a free ride with their first transaction every month when using the QR ticket.
On the app, tap the “Services” tab, then under “Lifestyle,” choose LRT-1 as your operator and click “Continue.” You will then be redirected to a page where you can set your origin or pick-up and destination locations and proceed to pay.
Remember to keep your QR receipt by taking a screenshot or saving it directly on your device. These steps will help you skip long lines especially during rush hour, thanks to Maya fast lane turnstiles.
