Martial Law Victims Say Marcos Jr.’s Presidency a ‘Nightmare’

Martial law victims and survivors gathered at the Bantayog ng mga Bayani in Quezon City on June 30 prior to the inauguration ceremony of Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr as the 17th president of the Philippines.

The group described Marcos’ presidency as a “nightmare,” but they said they need to accept the reality. By handing out torches to younger generations and their companions, the victims, mostly in their 70s, said the fight against historical revisionism and tyranny will continue. 

According to a report, there were around 70 people who participated in the protest, but they left the venue peacefully.

In another program held by the militant group Bagong Alyansang Makabayan (Bayan), Secretary-General Renato Reyes said they decided to relocate the protest from Liwasang Bonifacio to Plaza Miranda as Marcos’ supporters already occupied their original venue, which might raise security concerns, as per the Philippine National Police.
