South Korea to Resume Short-Term Visa Issuance in June

Your Hallyu dreams can now become a reality as the South Korean embassy is set to resume the issuance of tourist visas next month.

Application for and issuance of all types of visa, including tourist (C-3-9), will restart on June 1, roughly two years after being suspended due to the pandemic. Unexpired multiple entry visa issued before April 5, 2020, may be used without re-application, the South Korean embassy said in a notice on May 19. Submission of consent for isolation will no longer be required, it added.

The short-term C-3-9 visa allows foreigners to enter and stay in South Korea for up to 90 days. For the past two years, this type of visa is only being issued for diplomacy, government affairs, and other humanitarian reasons.

The resumption of short-term visa issuance is aimed at boosting the South Korean economy and tourism.
