These Filipino Activewear Brands Will Get You Up and Moving

Having your garments fail on you while you're out and about is the stuff of nightmares, but we can only imagine the horror if it happens in the middle of a strenuous workout or a run.

If you lead an active lifestyle or are just starting out on your fitness journey, it only makes sense to invest in quality activewear — the kind that's comfortable, well-designed, and made to last, one that won't fail you (unlike your ex), but also stylish enough that you feel good wearing it.

With these four local activewear brands, you don’t have to choose among quality, affordability, and style. You can have them all.

MillennX Athletic Gear

This premier Filipino athleisure brand is the brainchild of fashion design couple Glenn Hernandez and Jamille Co. More than just offering pretty fabrics, MillennX aims to promote "perpetual development and fashion innovation" through designs and workmanship that deliver in both the aesthetics and durability department. It offers activewear for men and women, as well as a maternity line for expecting mothers.

Machita Activewear

We're all about girl power and that's the vibe we get from Machita Activewear, a local clothing brand founded by Lala Dy Buncio in 2016. With the tagline "inspiring women to move," Machita's goal is to challenge and inspire women to create positive changes within themselves. This brand offers an extensive range of bras, tops, and bottoms, as well as cute and functional carry all bags and sandals.

One of its recent drops is the Courtside Vest, which has a mock neck for an elevated look and can be worn on top of your favorite sports bra.

Recess

This activewear and life-intervention-wear line was co-founded by Anne Curtis, Isabelle Daza, Paulina Ortega, and Roxanne Farillas amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Recess is all about that zero pressure, empowering "all movement that makes you feel good," whatever these activities may be. Its garments, which include leggings, bras, bodysuits, shorts, pullovers, pants, and more, are simply what you wear when you need to be kinder to yourself and recharge.

Trini Active

Full-time working women Dhora Estrellado, Aiko Banal, and Jenny Lagdameo co-founded Trini after struggling in their search for activewear that was high quality, comfortable, stylish, functional, and affordable. The power women created Trini to fulfill their activewear needs within their means and at the same time share their products with other women with the same dilemma.

The designs of Trini's bottoms, sports bras, tops, and sets, among others, take inspiration from daily movements, such as a simple coffee hangout, a quick run to the grocery, or an intense yoga session.
