We’ve saved you the hassle with The Beat Manila’s rundown of the best places to hit up and things to do this weekend—from blink-and-you'll-miss-it pop-up sights and new restaurant openings, to the hottest activities that you shouldn’t miss. 1. PAWCHELLA: A Benefit Concert for PAWSsion Project

Non-profit rescue animal organization PAWSsion Project will end their week-long celebration for International Homeless Animals Day (IHAD) with a concert. Some of the acts you can watch are Style Javier, Elle Sebastian, SUD, Fourplay, BINI, No Lore, Orange & Lemons, and many more.

Entrance is free, but if you want access to the VIP section and help rescue animals in need, you can register to become a PAWSsion Patron. You’ll also receive a certificate of rescue sponsorship and freebies!

When: 2 PM-9 PM, Aug. 20

Where: Bonifacio High Street, Bonifacio Global City, 5th Avenue, Taguig City

2. Philippine Bicycle Demo and Expo 2022

Need a bike so you can cycle to work? Or maybe just a bike for a weekend past-time? The Philippine Bicycle Demo gives visitors a chance to experience all the bicycles the industry has to offer. There will be product promotions on the latest gear and apparel, raffles, games, and prizes from sponsors. It’s a must-go event for every cycling enthusiast!

When: 8 AM-5 PM, Aug. 20-21

Where: McKinley West Park, Chateau Rd., Taguig City

How much: Demo* for P250, Non-Demo for P100 (*for those who want to try the bikes at the event)

3. Retro Gamers and Collectors Philippines (RGCP) 9th Anniversary Get-Together

If you love old-school games, you can head out to this event to relieve your childhood memories. From the Atari 2600 to Sega Dreamcast, lots of consoles will be available for visitors to experience for free. Many shops will also give you a kick of nostalgia as they sell retro merchandise and games for Gameboy Color, Play Station 1 and 2, and many more. Don’t be afraid of getting lost because the venue is right in front of LRT 1 Monumento Station!

4. MaArte at The Pen

Celebrate the Filipino creative soul by recognizing Philippine traditional crafts and contemporary design in the fields of fashion, furniture, and accessories. As one of the Museum Foundation of the Philippines’ fundraising efforts, the fair aims to bring out thoughtfully made merchandise by Filipino artisans, such as Caljje, Land of Nod, Daily Schedule PH, and Bicol Sweetgrass Handicrafts.

5. Philippine International Dive Expo (PHIDEX) 2022

Organized by the Department of Tourism, this three-day hybrid event aims to gather scuba divers and dive enthusiasts from all over the world. Exhibition booths featuring top-rated dive gear and equipment await visitors, as well as tips on dive resorts and centers located at different destinations around the country. It will be a nice avenue to share ideas and experiences and get insights from industry experts!

When: Aug. 19-21

Where: SMX Convention Center, Mall of Asia Complex, Seashell Lane, Pasay City

How much: Free, but will need to pre-register at PHIDEX to get a QR code for the entrance

6. Ayala Museum Art Workshop Hybrid Series

Learn basic yet fundamental skills while rediscovering Filipino culture and identity through a series of art workshops. Join Abe Orobia’s oil painting sessions as he shares with you the basic art elements and principles (such as color, value, and composition) through Fernando Amorsolo’s pastoral scenes. Sign up at Ayala Museum’s website and get art materials, a museum tour, and access to the new educational studio along with your registration.

7. Venice Hallyu Festival

Invite your chingus this weekend and get your wallets ready! From an extensive K-merch market to food challenges and games, this event will satisfy the die-hard fan in you. There will also be selca spots, K-Pop dance workshops, and more at the second floor of Venice Mall’s San Marco wing so don’t miss them!

8. Hallyu Market at Skydome

Invite your chingus this weekend and get your wallets ready (part two)! Co-presented by Viu Philippines, visitors can enjoy over 70 hallyu booths, K-merchants, and fan artists at the Skydome. Whether you’re looking for skincare products or that one photocard of your favorite that won’t come home, you’ll probably find what you’re looking for at this event.

Happening at the Grand Atrium, Shangri-La Plaza is cooking up a culinary event called “Tasty Feast” until Sunday! If you love The Bugs Knife, Mapishi, Salmon HQ, and other local food ventures, you sure wouldn’t want to miss this event!
