Art You Can See, Hear, & Feel: Wisdom of Da Vinci AI Exhibit Opens in BGC

Leonardo Da Vinci, the Italian artist, was known for his paintings which are continuously revered to this day. But above all, he was also a scientist who believed that art and science could coexist. He once said, “To develop a complete mind: Study the science of art; Study the art of science. Learn how to see. Realize that everything connects to everything else.”

With this idea at the fore, One Bonifacio High Street, in collaboration with Metrobank, Taguig City, and award-winning creative studio OUCHHH, have launched a new data painting exhibit, “Wisdom of Da Vinci: An Immersive AI Experience.” The exhibit features the works of Da Vinci, along with the wonders of science and art.

If you’re still contemplating whether to go or not, we’re giving you a sneak peek of what you will witness at the exhibit.

Kicking off the experience is the “Curator’s Lounge,” which features two chapters. The first one is “Poetic {AI},” which will put you in a daze with moving illustrations of data drawn from the books and theories of renowned scientists Albert Einstein and Galileo Galilei, followed by “Manila Realtime,” which will immerse you in the rich tapestry of the Philippines’ agriculture, fishery, and culture.

The exhibit will then take you to a “Digital Garden of Dreams,” a space where art and science collide. It is divided into four chapters, the first one being “Atlas.” This part is an ode to Da Vinci’s “Vitruvian Man,” which explores the wonders of human cells. The second chapter is “Datagate,” a multimedia exhibition made in collaboration with the National Aeronautics and Space Administration, which uses data gathered from the Kepler telescope, to invoke a feeling of being in space.

The next chapter, “Say Superstrings,” is a feast for the eyes, mind, and ears. Aside from members of the Manila Symphony Orchestra gracing the exhibit with a live performance of classical music, you’ll also get a view of the activity of their brain waves in real time. This, according to OUCHHH, aims to “establish the connection between human creativity and machine learning.”

The last chapter, “Filipino Masters,” will show you the reimagined works of legendary Filipino painter Juan Luna, including his most revered “Spoliarium.” These paintings were collected and processed through AI to showcase Luna’s worldview.

Here, you’ll have a closer look at the polymath’s works, from the minute brushstrokes to the nitty-gritty details, which are projected across the hall’s walls and floor.
