UNIS Meets Filo EverAfters at First Fancon in Manila

“I turn my superwoman on when I wanna, ‘cuz I’m my own superwoman.”
The New Frontier Theatre was packed last Friday (Oct. 25) despite the bad weather with Filo EverAfters showing up to support Hyeonju, Nana, Gehlee, Yoona, Kotoko, Yunha, Elisia, and Seowon — collectively known as UNIS as they put on their first-ever fan concert (fancon)!
For the uninitiated, UNIS was formed following the run of a SBS’ reality survival show, “Universe Ticket.” The eight-member girl group debuted under F&F Entertainment on March 27, 2024, with the album “We UNIS.” The group’s name is an acronym for the phrase “U&I Story” which pertains to the group and their fans continuing to write their story together which began in the show. The name of their fandom “EverAfters” was derived from “Happily Ever After” which means the stories they write together are always happy.
This group of superwomen have been charming fans with their catchy pop tunes and girl power tracks that send messages of loving yourself and claiming your happiness, making them one of the rising K-Pop groups on our radar.
The Beat Manila got to witness the memorable “meet cute” between UNIS and Filo EverAfters as they wrote a new chapter in their story — one that’s filled with exciting performances, unforgettable interactions, and fun surprises.
UNIS on Dream Concepts, Collaborations, and More
Prior to their fan concert on Oct. 25, the octet spoke to the Philippine media in a press conference held at the Sheraton Manila Hotel last Oct. 24. During the conference, UNIS talked about things to look forward to from the show, their dream collaborations, and many more.
Looking back on their journey as K-pop idols so far, Yunha said, “I remember every award we have received so far. It hasn’t been a year yet since our debut, but I’m thankful that we’ve been receiving awards and a lot of love already, so I think we should try harder in the future.”

For Gehlee, the group’s first fan meeting in the Philippines last May is the most memorable throughout her K-pop journey.
“Napakagrabe kung gaano ka-passionate ‘yung [mga] sigaw at suporta na na-receive namin pagkarating namin sa venue (The screams and support we received from when we arrived at the venue was super amazing). There were so many people cheering for us all the way to our waiting room. We felt so much warmth and comfort, [so] we just had to take a moment to process all the love we have received back then,” said Gehlee.
The group also shared how they manage to maintain a good chemistry despite their cultural differences and language barriers.
“There were some difficulties, especially in communications because of our different languages, but our non-Korean members exerted a lot of effort in learning the Korean language. When it comes to cultural differences, we don’t really feel it because we get along well with each other,” said Yunha.
Meanwhile, Elisia said that while there were challenges, she’s thankful to the members for helping her and Gehlee adjust to the country’s culture. “Thankfully, the Korean and Japanese members are very patient with us. They helped us a lot in adjusting so it made us more comfortable with adapting to their culture.”

We also asked the girls what concepts or genres they would love to try out in the future.
“We’re in the process of proving that we can pull off a lot of concepts and showcase our versatility. For me, I would really like to try maybe a graceful or elegant concept. I would love to see how the members would look. For this concept, I’m really really curious and I feel like it would just be really beautiful,” Gehlee told The Beat Manila.
When asked about their dream collaborations with Filipino artists, Elisia said that they would love to do one with P-Pop girl group BINI.
“Us, UNIS, kasi, we had the opportunity to do a cover of our ates’ ‘Pantropiko.’ I think it would be really interesting for BINI and UNIS, a K- and P-pop girl group, to come together and work together and make their new song,” said Elisia.
The girls wrapped up the press conference with a peek of their fan concert, performing their songs “Curious” and “Poppin’” in front of the media.
FANCON Recap: Best Moments
UNIS’ first fancon in the Philippines was filled with sparkly and explosive stages, fun games, and exciting surprises which sent Filo EverAfters into a frenzy! From surprise performance covers to “sana all” fan interactions, here are the best moments of the night!
UNIS' Tagalog Ments
One of the coolest things about the group is that it debuted with two Filipina members, Elisia Parmisano and Gehlee Dangca, as well as Filipino-Korean, Jin Hyeonju. It was only fitting that their first fancon took place in the Philippines, which made this a sweet homecoming for some of their members.
After opening with “Superwoman,” the first single from their debut mini album, the girls lined up on stage to greet their fans.
“Kamusta and mabuhay Manila! Magsigawan kayo if masaya kayo today (If you’re happy, let us hear you scream)!” Elisia galvanized the entire New Frontier theatre with her cheerful greeting, kickstarting the show. She was followed by Yunha, Hyeonju, Seowon, Kotoko (who cutely stumbled over her Tagalog) Nana, Yoona, and Gehlee who wrapped up the intros with “Excited na ba kayo (Are you excited)?” which was met with resounding cheers.

The eight-member girl group knew just how to tickle their Filo EverAfters, often mixing Tagalog terms and phrases throughout their ments. They then raised the energy higher by performing their follow-up tracks “Dopamine” and “Poppin’.”
‘Dating Myself’ Performance
As UNIS celebrated their first-ever fancon event, they went all out with the preparations and made sure the night was filled with powerful stages and thrilling surprises for their fans. One of which is the “Dating Myself” stage, which the group sang live for the first time!
The track was included in their latest EP, “Curious” which was released last August. UNIS showed off their vocal prowess for this number, opting for a simpler stage with just them and their microphones belting out to this power pop track about learning to love oneself, self-discovery, and personal growth. Definitely one of the notable musical highlights of the night!

Photo Lotto
The fun thing about fancons is that it’s more than just a musical event. It’s also a chance for fans to interact with their idols and win fantastic prizes.
Nine lucky EverAfters were drawn from the SVIP ticket holders who were each called up to the stage. They were then asked to pick a number between one to nine with each number connected to an envelope containing an exclusive polaroid taken by the members themselves.
Everyone knows by now how coveted these photocards are in K-Pop fandoms so being able to get one that doesn’t exist anywhere else is definitely a big win! We related to the fans in the house as they chanted: “Sana all!”
UNIS Performs ‘Pantropiko’ and ‘Cheer Up’
After the raffle draw, the host introduced a special AVP (audio visual presentation) featuring the members recording a special song. The fans were treated to a cute video with each member showcasing their playful sides as they tried their best to record a familiar P-Pop track.
After much teasing of session snippets, they finally revealed their cover of BINI’s “Pantropiko” on stage! Not only did they sing it, but also performed the choreography with ease, showing off their talent and undeniable charm.
Most K-Pop idols would often perform songs from the country they’re performing in as part of their setlist, and UNIS continued the tradition by not only singing one of the most popular P-Pop hits today but also performing a second cover. The group sang and danced to “CHEER UP” by TWICE, which they dedicated to everyone who was affected by the recent typhoon.

Random Play Dance with EverAfters
Probably the most fun segment of the show is the game EverAfters played with UNIS. Twenty fans were drawn from the lot and played a game of “Group Yourselves.” The remaining eight fans got to play “Random Play Dance” with UNIS, which is basically a dance showdown!
The Everafters who participated went all in and all out showing off their dance moves to popular UNIS tracks. The little boy who joined the group stole the spotlight as he charmed UNIS and the crowd with his adorable choreos, ultimately tipping the game in their favor.
Each fan was gifted with a signed album, a sponsored prize, and the chance to greet their bias (favorite member) up close. The game ended with a group photo of the participants, which had the rest of us feeling envious to the core!
Some EverAfters also got the chance to enjoy special fan benefits which included a Hi-Touch and Photo Op sessions with the group, as well as access to the soundcheck before the concert.
