Yamaha Music Philippines on Expanding the Music Experience

For over a century, Yamaha has been in the business of making waves in the music scene by merging traditional craftsmanship with modern innovations in materials and sound to create pianos of exceptional tone and stunning beauty. It is a well-known fact that the Japanese brand is known for their black and white keys, from the classic grand pianos to their digital keyboards.
Yamaha made its way to the Philippine market last year, which they deemed as “one of the emerging countries expected to show remarkable growth in the future.”
They established their first store in Makati, offering a range of instruments and music gear. A year later, Yamaha is expanding their reach in the Philippines with the opening of their biggest boutique in the country, situated in the stylish Uptown Mall in Bonifacio Global City.
The Beat Manila got to witness this momentous occasion last Oct. 28 as the gorgeous new store officially opened its doors with the promise of inspiring musical journeys across the country and beyond.
Elevating the Musical Experience
From the moment you walk into the store, you’re welcomed by an array of gorgeous grand pianos that fill the room with beautiful sounds. The store is divided into sections with each area showcasing a collection of musical instruments from keyboards and strings to brass and woodwinds and various musical equipment.
Organized in such a way that it makes it easier for customers to browse their products, the new Yamaha store promotes a sense of interactivity as it encourages visitors to try and experience the instruments for themselves. This seems to be the brand’s intention in putting up their second boutique.
“As we open the doors, we are excited to offer an extensive range of music instruments and equipment to inspire and elevate your musical journey,” said Koichiro Onoe, President of Yamaha Music Philippines. “Whether you're a musician, a performer, or someone who finds joy in music, this store has something special for everyone.”

The store definitely offers an impressive range of products for all types of music enthusiasts. Piano lovers will find their selection of acoustic pianos and digital keyboards to be of the highest quality. The store features The Disklavier™, the brand’s reproducing piano deemed as the best modern-day player piano on the market.
ICYDK: The Uptown branch currently houses the first and only Disklavier™ piano in the country!

It's plain to see that Yamaha keyboards are the centerpiece of the brand with more than half of the store dedicated to its keyboard models. The Yamaha brand’s history began when its founder, Torakusu Yamaha, repaired a broken reed organ in 1887. In 1900, they completed its first grand piano and has since gained the reputation for producing pianos that blend traditional craftsmanship with modern technology.
You can also find a fine selection of digital keyboards that produce authentic piano sound and quality. Can’t fit a grand piano in your home? No problem! These digital beauties like the CLP-800 series “never felt so grand” with its new tone generator chip and acoustic system, the Grand Expression Modeling and VRM which lets you experience the sensation of playing a living piano, and GrandTouch keyboards that provide the feel of a grand piano in action.

Looking to elevate your acoustic set? The branch offers an array of acoustic, classical, and electric guitars in various shapes, sizes, and colors. Each section is also equipped with amplifiers, so you can give their guitars with pickups a go. The store also has electric violins and provide other sound and acoustic gears such as spare strings, amplifiers, guitar cases, and other accessories.

At the center of the space are their electronic drums and drum pads that will groove to your beats and their sublime brass and woodwind display where you’ll find instruments such as the saxophone, trumpet, flute, and recorders.

It’s definitely a musical wonderland, one that will attract many customers looking to build their home music studios, acquire a new instrument, or simply find their unique sound.
Providing Opportunities for Music Education
Yamaha marked the special occasion by welcoming esteemed guests to the opening, including members of local bands like IV of Spades, Imago, and 6cylemind. Guests were also treated to a fantastic musical medley performance by Quartet Manila.
The ribbon cutting was participated by several brand and property executives including Koichiro Onoe, President of Yamaha Music Philippines; Consul General Hanada Takahiro from the Japanese Embassy; Kennei Sakai, Senior General Manager, Asia Pacific Sales Division, Yamaha Corporation (Japan); Graham M. Coates, First Vice President of Megaworld Commercial Division; and Kevin Tan, Executive Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of Megaworld Corporation, Marnie Chua, Ivan Yao, and Roy Chua, Director of Remarkable Living Inc.; Jorge Bocobo, Councilor of Taguig City.

They were also joined by the Department of Education (DepEd) Undersecretary, Peter Corvera, as Yamaha Music is donating 50 keyboards to DepEd as part of their initiative to push for boundless creativity, foster inclusivity, and make lives better through the power of music.
“This will definitely go a long way in the holistic development of our students, learners, and even our teachers,” said Undersecretary Peter Corvera. “As you all know education is not only about academics. It involves the enhancement of culture. Again, we look forward to our continuous partnership with DepEd and Yamaha.”
Furthermore, President Onoe also added that keyboards are the perfect starting instrument for musical learning purposes, “The keyboard is a very good instrument for learning musicality. It's very easy to play. You can easily see which note is lower or higher. Basically, the keyboard is where we learn harmony and rhythm — the main components of music."
These keyboards will be distributed to various schools in the Philippines, providing students with the opportunity to explore their musical talents and develop a lifelong appreciation for the arts.
More than just a brand that sells musical instruments, Yamaha is providing ways to elevate musical experiences by offering innovative products and equipment to further music education and promote enjoyment of the arts. With its wide instrument selection and a setting that encourages musical interaction, this new store is indeed a testament to the Yamaha Music brand’s philosophy that music is for everyone.
