Thousands of users went straight to Twitter to express their dismay at the disruption. Some complained about receiving pop-up messages like “Operation failed with unexpected error” and “Something went wrong while loading shifts. Please try again" when launching MS Teams. Others said the app works fine on mobile, but Microsoft tools such as MS Office and Sharepoint remain inaccessible on desktop. A user said MS Teams is “a real bummer” for being down, while some called it the worst platform.

Along with the countless complaints are an overflowing number of funny reactions and memes on Twitter. One user said, “So Microsoft Teams just went down... I guess it’s time for me to clock out,” while another user wrote, “If MS Teams doesn’t wanna work today then neither do I.” Even Singapore’s leading bank DBS’ digital arm @digibank joined the bandwagon by jokingly tweeting, “But why is my Teams working? #msteamsdown.”
