Road Closures Affect Marina Centre, Padang Ahead of Formula One Singapore Grand Prix

Stretches of roads mainly in the Marina Centre and Padang area have been affected beginning yesterday, Sept. 28, ahead of the Formula One (F1) Singapore Grand Prix 2022 this weekend.

The road closures will take place until Oct. 4 to give way for the set up and dismantling of the race infrastructure. The roads were progressively closed at exactly 12:01 AM of Sept. 28.

In a press release on Sept. 23, the Land Transport Authority (LTA) gave motorists alternative road routes during the morning and evening peak hours, from 5:30 AM to 10 AM and from 5 PM to 8:30 PM, respectively, for Sept. 28-Oct. 4

All roads will be fully accessible again at 5:30 AM on Oct. 4. Details of the road arrangements may be viewed here.

Amid the road closures for this year's F1 race, retail and dining establishments have been left affected, with customers cancelling appointments.

According to a report by Singapore news outlet TODAY, 14 establishments said customers have avoided their area due to the traffic arrangements that started yesterday.

Restaurants and service providers at the Millennia Walk mall told TODAY that their sales dropped as customers steered clear of the area to avoid traffic jams.

Marina Square mall, as per the report, also saw a decrease in sales yesterday and isn't expecting more customers during the F1 weekend.
