Active Commute Grant Now Covers Retail Developments

The Active Commute Grant (ACG), which was established in 2017, has been expanded on May 5 to cover retail developments within 400 metres of MRT stations.

According to the Land Transport Authority (LTA) on the same day, the ACG was introduced to "encourage developers to provide end-of-trip facilities for those who adopt active commutes in support of our Walk Cycle Ride Vision." Prior to its expansion, it covered offices, business parks, and light/general industrial developments, with 14 developments benefiting from it so far.

The LTA added that developers of retail developments near the MRT stations can submit claims for end-of-trip facilities like lockers, bicycle parking, repair stations, and more.

"When we have these end-of-trip facilities, it makes it easier for active mobility users (such as cyclists) to park and access their active mobility devices, and even freshen up after their journeys," the LTA said. "For those who choose to use active mobility modes of transport to complete their journeys, the process becomes more seamless, convenient and comfortable."

The LTA will co-fund up to 80% of the construction of the end-of-trip facilities and a maximum of S$80,000 per retail development. Applications may be submitted until June 30.
