The Ministry of Health (MOH) has set its sights on better serving the health care needs of residents in and around the Clementi and Taman Jurong areas, with plans to redevelop the polyclinic in the former and build a new one in the latter.
The redeveloped Clementi Polyclinic will be located along Commonwealth Avenue West and is expected to be ready by 2027. The existing Clementi Polyclinic currently stands at Clementi Avenue 3, just 650 metres past, according to the MOH on June 1.
Clementi Polyclinic is one of the oldest and smallest polyclinics in the city-state. The redeveloped polyclinic will be more elderly-friendly and shall incorporate accessibility features for patients' convenience.
"The redeveloped polyclinic will be larger and will continue to provide a comprehensive range of primary care services, including medical treatment for acute conditions, chronic disease management, allied health services, women’s and children’s health services, as well as radiological, laboratory and pharmacy services," the MOH said.
Meanwhile, the new polyclinic in Taman Jurong will be located at the site of the former West Point Hospital along Corporation Drive and is expected to open by 2028. It will join the likes of Pioneer and Jurong Polyclinics in serving the needs of Jurong residents.
The redeveloped Clementi Polyclinic and the new Taman Jurong will be operated by the National University Polyclinics (NUP).
