Singapore’s Joint Lab Project to Launch AI-Based Technology to Assist Human Tasks
The Singapore Management University (SMU) and the Agency for Science, Technology and Research (A*STAR) have collaborated for a Joint Lab in Social and Human-Centred Computing technology.
The S$10 million project aims to “support and enhance” the lifestyle of people living in the city-state in terms of human health, urban solutions, and sustainability domains.
The joint lab will focus on two key research areas namely: computational social science and human-AI synergy. It is expected to benefit policymakers and social agencies through utilizing AI-based assistance for human tasks, market research, and analysing customer satisfaction among others.
A*STAR's Institute of High Performance Computing (IHPC) and Institute for Infocomm Research (I2R) and SMU will also work together in the innovation of computer vision and cognitive AI processes for easier comprehension of verbal, visual and gestural cues.
